Our main focus consists of providing behavior modification and cognitive behavior therapy. Even though these are our primary techniques that we practice we will work with you in a flexible and comprehensive manner to best meet your needs.
Behavior modification is a treatment approach, based on the principles of operant conditioning, that replaces undesirable behaviors with more desirable ones through positive or negative reinforcement.
Cognitive behavior therapy assumes that faulty thought patterns cause maladaptive behavior and emotional responses. The treatment focuses on changing thoughts in order to solve psychological and personality problems. Our therapy techniques utilize a goal-oriented, therapeutic approach, and it treats emotional and behavioral disorders as maladaptive learned responses that can be replaced by healthier ones with appropriate training.
Our approach to therapy is proactive, while many therapists focus on past problems and traumas, we focus on helping our patients resolve current problems. Some of our areas of specialization include:
• Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
• Asperger’s Disorder and Autism
• Learning Disabilities/ Developmental Disabilities
